Ruth is a young, 24-year-old single mum living in Keith with her son Edward.
Although her mum does live locally she is a full-time teacher and with no other friends or family living nearby Becky has very little support with childcare.
Thankfully when Strathisla Children’s Centre opened she was able to secure a place for Edward. Unlike other local childcare providers Strathisla was open from 8am-6pm and offered flexible booking options. Not only did this provide some respite for Ruth but it also allowed her to start a new job.
“After Edward was born I stopped work and was really worried about finding a new job that would fit with the nursery times. Keith is quite remote and even after COVID there weren’t many flexible jobs. Luckily Strathisla was flexible with starting and finishing times and I was able to find and start in a new job when Edward started in the nursery. It was the dream job with a much higher salary – I was only able to get the job due to the nursery’s flexibility and opening hours.
