Kaisley is a busy mum who has always wanted to work with children. She was delighted when she was given a place to study Childhood Practice at Dundee and Angus college.
However, with a one-year-old to look after, and very little support from friends or family, it looked like Kaisley would have to put her dream on hold for another year.
That was until one of her friends told her about Fintry Mains Childcare and Community Hub.
Fintry Mains is Flexible Childcare Services Scotland’s flagship early learning and childcare setting and offers a fully flexible model where parents can book childcare by the hour, change their bookings each week and only pay for the childcare they actually use.
This model is a stark contrast to the majority of childcare providers who only offer fixed blocks of time that parents must pay for whether they use them or not. These traditional childcare models are not only expensive for parents, they prohibit parents’ from achieving their employment or educational aspirations as well as restricting other pursuits such as other caring responsibilities.
Thankfully, Kaisley was able to find a place at the nursery for her one-year-old son Jokki. Thanks to the flexible childcare model, Kaisley can book childcare to match her college commitments allowing her to pursue her dream of working with children.
Kaisley said,
“Fintry Mains is a lovely nursery, and the team are really welcoming. The flexible model means that I can go to college and save money on childcare, it’s a win-win for us and most importantly Jokki loves the setting and the new friends that he’s making. I would absolutely recommend this nursery to other parents, and I wish that other providers offered this type of flexibility.”
According to Megan Watt, Service Manager at Fintry mains,
“Jokki has settled in well and is a happy child at our nursery. He’s building good relationships with the staff and gaining confidence in exploring the room and resources. Kaisley appreciates the welcoming atmosphere and quality of care at the nursery.”
