Case Study – Full time employment thanks to OOSC

Karen Wallace is a working parent with two children, Olivia (10) and Elliott (7), who are enrolled at FCSS’s Hillside Breakfast and Out of School Club.

Karen needed a Breakfast and Out of School Club that provided before and after school care but, due to the nature of her job, she only needed ad hoc support for those times when shifts came last minute. One of her friends recommended Hillside as a potential solution.

This flexibility has provided significant support to Karen, allowing her to maintain her full time work contract and even take additional hours to top up her income.

Karen says,

“I’m very grateful for the flexibility of the service and how accommodating FCSS has been with managing bookings and changes to our childcare. Thanks to their support I am now able to work full time and take overtime which has made a massive difference to my household income and the wellbeing of the entire family.

“The children have settled into the club and have made some great friendships…importantly for me is that they love the range of activities, it has massively reduced their screentime and they really love the team and children who attend.”

Reflecting on her experiences, Karen says,

“I would have no hesitation in recommending the service. The flexibility and delivery of care have been excellent. I’m very happy that we made the decision to enrol our children at Hillside.”

The peace of mind and the flexibility provided by FCSS have been vital for Karen and her family, making the childcare service an essential part of their daily routine.
