Say hello to our Early Years Practitioner, Jamie
It’s time for the third in our Meet the Team series and today we’re asking you to say hello to Jamie. Jamie joined our day care team earlier this month and is enjoying working with children in both the under 2’s and the 2-5’s rooms.
Sticking with our tried and trusted interview format we asked Jamie why she chose a career in early learning and education. Here’s what she told us, “I love working with children in their early years and helping support them and further their development through play. I have a great sense of achievement knowing that I have been part of helping a child reach his/her milestones. It is a very rewarding job.” We totally agree with Jamie’s thoughts about helping children reach their milestones and hope that choosing to work with us will help Jamie reach her personal career milestones too.
Next; we asked Jamie what her favourite thing about working in early years care with us here at FCSS Dundee is. Jamie explained that she likes being able to work her shifts around the needs of her family. She’s only been with us for a couple of weeks, but Jamie says, “I feel as if I have been here much longer than two weeks, due to the welcome I have received from staff members, and I feel as if I have fitted nicely into my role as an Early Years Practitioner.” We think Jamie is a great fit to our team and we’re delighted to have her on board.
Our next question for Jamie was where does she see herself in five years’ time? Jamie shared with us that she still sees herself working with children, possibly “working with school age children in a more challenging environment”. That sounds like a great aspiration to us and we’re happy to support Jamie in her professional development as she works towards her goal.
Finally, we threw in our three interesting facts question, here’s Jamie’s trio of truths:
- At the age of 22 I had my own childminding business, in which I was a childminder for the last 9 nine years, my love of skulls inspired me to name my business Jamie’s Raskulls.
- I have two young sons training in Kickboxing, in which my eldest is a junior black belt/adult purple belt, and my youngest is a junior brown belt.
- I like to take my children on holiday to Florida every 2-3 years.
