Our children at FCSS, Dundee, were buzzing with excitement when their penguin pal, Slinky, arrived ready for a creative makeover. We all had a wonderful time painting Slinky, we talked about colours, about penguins and other animals and about the places in our city where we might see Slinky’s friends. We used our imagination, our creative skills, practised early science as we mixed paint colours and enjoyed the sensory experience of the cool, slippery, smooth paint.

We also had a home link activity where our penguin egg went home with the children to share in their family adventures. Our egg and the families who looked after him kept a diary of his visits and we’ve got lots of stories and pictures on display in the setting.

We love Slinky and we had a fab time walking the Penguin Trail to find his friends too. You can see Slinky on display at The Crescent in Whitfield then after the Penguin Parade event finishes he’ll come back to live with us here at FCSS, Dundee.
