Next up in our FCSS Meet the Team series is Mel, our Senior Practitioner. Mel has worked here at Flexible Childcare Services Scotland for nearly 4 years and gets to spend time with all the children in the different areas of the service.
First; we asked Mel why she chose a career in Early Learning and Childcare, here’s what she told us: “I find working in ELC a very fulfilling and rewarding job. Those first few years of a child’s life are so important and it’s wonderful to get to be a part of that early stage and hopefully have a positive impact and ensure that children get the best start in their education.” Mel certainly has a positive impact in our service and we’re delighted she chose a career in ELC based with us here at Families House.
Next question for Mel was; What is your favourite thing about your role as Senior Practitioner here at FCSS? Mel told us she loves that every day is different and that she can really get to know the children and parents well building a solid relationship with them as she contributes to their early years’ experience.
Third on the question sheet was; Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time? Here’s Mel’s vision for her future career; “I hope to finish my SVQ level 4 and have more new experiences, so I can continue to grow in my job and build my knowledge.” We’re proud to support Mel in her aspirations and hope she continues to build her knowledge and experience right here with us at FCSS.
Following our usual format, we asked Mel to tell us three interesting things about her, this is what she shared:
- I lived in America for three months in 2016 and did some different volunteer work whilst there.
- I really enjoy taking and editing photos…it’s my favourite hobby.
- I go to a church in Broughty Ferry and love being involved with the youth club. We run a summer camp every year which I have volunteered at for the last 11 years.
We love having Mel as part of our team here at Flexible Childcare Services Scotland and really value her contribution as a Senior Practitioner. We’re loving sharing our Meet the Team profiles and hope everyone is enjoying finding out a little more about our team.
