Hi, I’m Stephanie Chalmers and I’m one of the Senior Childcare Practitioners here at Fintry Mains.
What qualifications / how many years of experience do you have:
I have worked in childcare for 6 years. I started with an apprenticeship to gain my SVQ level 3 qualification. I am currently working towards my SVQ level 4.
What does an average day look like and what types of activities do you do:
I oversee both 0-2 rooms but I mostly work in the Willow room. I ensure a smooth running of the day supporting staff to follow the daily routine. I ensure all paperwork id kept up to date and that it is filled out correctly.
What is the most rewarding part of your job:
I love being able to watch the children grow and develop while attending the service. It is great being able to support staff as with in their roles to.
What made you choose a career in childcare:
It is something I have wanted to do from a young age and it is something that comes naturally to me.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up and why:
I wanted to be a nursery teacher and here I am!
