Anna Findlater, 90, from Newtonhill, Aberdeenshire, spent over 30 years as an avid card maker and crafter, amassing an extensive collection of arts and crafts supplies she always intended to use.
Unfortunately, Anna was diagnosed with macular degeneration some time ago and since then she has gradually lost most of her sight and is now registered severely sight impaired. Sadly, this meant giving up the hobby she loved. With decades worth of carefully collected and curated materials, Anna was unsure what to do with her supplies, but was determined they should go to a good cause.
Anna’s daughter suggested donating to a local charity that providing early learning, school-age childcare, and specialist services for children with Additional Support Needs (ASN) in Aberdeenshire. The charity’s ASN Groups were delighted to accept, as crafting materials are always in demand.

According to ASN Co-ordinator Kayleigh Still,
“We were absolutely delighted when Anna’s daughter contacted us. Anna has very kindly donated a huge amount of art and craft suppliers which will be invaluable to the members of our ASN Groups. As a charity we do our best to provide new and exciting resources for the children and young people in our care, thanks to Anna’s donation we’ll be well stocked for a long time to come.”
Anna dedicated several weeks to carefully sorting her materials into boxes — one for each of the eight ASN Groups — ready for delivery. With more supplies still to sort through, this may not be her final donation.
