My name is Claire and I am the Assistant Service Manager at our setting in Keith.
Previous to joining FCSS I spent many a happy year as a parent helper in both of my children’s nurseries and schools, as well as holding various positions on their parent committees. Then in January 2022, with my children older, and my role as their Mum changing, I felt the time was right for me to pursue my career and I was very fortunate to be offered a position as an unqualified practitioner with FCSS. This opportunity enabled me to study for my SVQ 3 through a modern apprenticeship while working which allowed me to link theory to practice, reinforcing my understanding and knowledge through valuable experiences gained within the workplace.
I qualified the following year and shortly after became the Senior Practitioner within our 2-3’s room, a position that I held for 2 years until recently accepting, what feels to be the natural progression in my career, the position of Assistant Service Manager.
I am both very excited and honoured to embark upon my new path as I support our wonderful Manager Gillian, while working alongside an amazing team of like minded colleagues. My motivation comes from both the love for what I do, along with my willingness to make a difference for the families and children in our care each day. I want to ensure that each and every one of our children feel safe, secure, loved, nurtured, and championed to fulfill their full potential within a fun and stimulating environment.
In my spare time I enjoy walking and reading, along with a real love for travelling, although having just accepted an offer to study for my BA in Childhood Practice at UHI, spare time might be in short supply for the foreseeable future!
