Flexible Childcare Services Scotland (FCSS), the only charity to offer families a fully flexible childcare service, is delighted to announce that, following a successful tender, they will now be running North East Scotland College’s Fraserburgh Campus nursery.
The nursery is a 30 place, purpose-built childcare service primarily for students at NESCol offering 6 places for children 0-2 years and 24 places for 2-5 year olds.
FCSS are currently applying for partnership status with Aberdeenshire Council to enable them to offer funded places to the 3-5 year olds and any eligible 2 year olds.
FCSS’s model is unique in that it is a tailored package with flexible hours and services to meet the specific requirements of children families and communities it cares for. This makes it ideal for students at the college who can manage their childcare around their classes.
Susan McGhee, Director at FCSS said,
“We are really excited to open our doors this August, we know that our service is going to be invaluable for the students and staff at the college as we provide high quality early learning and childcare to support their college commitments.”
FCSS have also committed to refurbish the existing space; investing in new equipment to ensure that the nursery is fully aligned to Scottish Government’s Space to Grow guidance.
Susan McGhee explains,
“We are going to create an environment that fosters curiosity, awe and wonder, stimulating children’s natural instincts to explore, investigate and learn. We are investigating the potential to offer beach nursery sessions and make use of the wonderful natural landscape that is very easily accessible from the nursery location.”

With their own nurseries in Dundee, Inverness and Aberdeenshire, FCSS are well versed in providing flexible childcare solutions for families, and with the introduction of the Fraserburgh Campus they will demonstrate how their flexible model can be adopted by existing childcare providers in any education or workplace setting.
